Job Description

KSUA’s Music Director role offers a hands-on opportunity for students passionate about discovering and shaping the sound of independent and alternative radio. In this position, you’ll actively source and review new music from emerging artists, manage the station’s music library and automation systems, and ensure tracks are properly tagged and broadcast-ready. From analyzing albums and monitoring lyrical content to writing reviews for the KSUA blog and engaging with artists, this role blends music curation, critical listening, and content creation. You’ll also collaborate with the KSUA team through events, meetings, and station initiatives—playing a key role in maintaining KSUA’s identity as a platform for underrated, obscure, and alternative music.

Students who thrive as KSUA’s Music Director are curious, detail-oriented, and deeply passionate about discovering new and unconventional music. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging through emerging artists, analyzing sound and lyrics, and staying organized while managing a high volume of music submissions. Whether you’re already familiar with music platforms and file management or eager to learn, success in this position comes from being self-motivated, responsive, and open to exploring KSUA’s alternative and independent identity. No prior radio experience is required—just a strong interest in music curation, a willingness to learn technical systems, and a commitment to contributing to a creative and collaborative station culture

Minimum Qualifications:

Enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours as a degree-seeking student
Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA
Strong interest in alternative, independent, and emerging music
