OpenKyber is looking for Java Developer w/Datadog for one of its clients Remote Job Title: Java Developer w/Datadog

Summary: We are looking for a skilled Java Developer to build and maintain high-performance backend services while taking ownership of our application's observability. You will be responsible for developing robust Java API endpoints and ensuring they are fully monitored using Datadog. A key part of your role will involve designing advanced Datadog dashboards and leveraging the Datadog API to automate monitoring workflows.

Responsibilities:

• Java API Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable RESTful API endpoints using Java (Spring Boot preferred). Microservices Ensure high performance and responsiveness of backend services. Integrate Java applications with databases (SQL/NoSQL) and third-party services.
• Datadog Dashboarding & Visualization: Design and build custom Datadog dashboards to provide real-time visibility into system health, application performance (APM), and business KPIs. Configure complex widgets, template variables, and graph queries to monitor latency, error rates, and throughput. Establish Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and monitors to trigger automated alerts for anomalous behavior.
• Programmatic Monitoring (Datadog API): Use the to programmatically create and manage dashboards, monitors, and roles. Integrate monitoring configurations into CI/CD pipelines using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or through custom Java-based integrations. Automate the ingestion of custom metrics using DogStatsD or the Datadog API.
• Troubleshooting & Performance Engineering: Analyze distributed traces, logs, and metrics in Datadog to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks. Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams to improve overall system reliability.

Required Skills

• Java Expertise: Core Java: Deep knowledge of multithreading, collections, and object-oriented design.
• Frameworks: Hands-on experience with Spring Boot for microservices and API development.
• Testing: Proficiency in JUnit and Mockito for unit and integration testing.
• Datadog Proficiency: Minimum 2+ years of experience specifically with Datadog monitoring and observability, Building Dashboards.
• DevOps & Infrastructure: Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and Agile methodologies.
